Engineering Manager, Developer Experience
- Mentored, coached, and led an international, blended team of FTEs and vendors across timezones and continents. Our key platform, Backstage, is the largest implementation of Spotify’s app management tool in the world - hosting thousands of concurrent users across Expedia.- Led the drive to transform the team from kanban-based support engineers to an agile team of engineers that developed on multiple platforms in multiple languages. Drove education and adoption of agile best practices and ensured engagement and productivity were not impacted but instead fundamentally improved - seeing development time on tickets plunge to hours or days instead of weeks.- Responsible for all internal Backstage support for plugin contributors, end users, and executives. My team worked closely with plugin contributors throughout Expedia to ensure a consistent, reliable platform that adhered to all compliance and security requirements. Ensured support SLAs were met and assisted Developer Support in troubleshooting issues and incidents - leading to 90% reduced incident occurrence for our platforms and response times of under 5 minutes.- Lead the initiative to launch a homegrown ChatOps solution leveraging Stackstorm and Slack to enable developers to complete many time-consuming tasks from their chat clients. App deactivations, metadata look up, and ChatGPT integration were among the many solutions we launched, saving an estimated 6,000 plus hours per developer per year.- Developed and managed the internal ChatOps contribution model to support Expedia developers who wanted to leverage ChatOps for their own solutions, decreasing onboarding time to the platform from a week to a matter of hours.- Lead engineering efforts to launch LinearB at Expedia, including API integration and rollout support to key Expedia orgs while dog-fooding the platform to target productivity challenges on our own team. We identified key behaviors that were inflating our lead time that reduced it to 1-2 days.
