Navy Submarine veteran turned HVAC Sales Engineer turned IT. I like solving problems, especially helping others solve problems.The long story:What do you want to be when you grow up? I hadn’t the slightest clue as a 6-year-old, so I went with astronaut. Well I didn't make it to astronaut (yet), but that path did lead me to the Navy submarine force, which was an adventure of a lifetime.A few months after I had finished my service, a former coworker/friend asked “Hey did you write this word doc called Memoirs of a JO? Everyone’s read it, they all think it’s hilarious.” I did, and I explained to him why: I wanted to leave some extra lessons learned after going through a rigorous engineering inspection, and I figured what better way to get people to read it than making it entertaining? Seemed fitting after bringing plenty of entertainment to the crew (got a sea story or two) while making sure I left my ship a better place than when I arrived, from leading a flawless engineering casualty drill that helped raise our grade and pass a bi-annual inspection, to exhibiting poise under pressure during a collision and the subsequent hellish repairs to get back to sea.After that I dove into a sales engineer role in the HVAC construction market, learning how to “be a civilian” which included customer relations, learning the ins and outs of the industry, and helping bring a little more process and efficiency to a small, growing company.When I’m not adventuring professionally, I’m adventuring recreationally (rock climbing, mountain biking, snowboarding..).
