About Douglas J.

A dynamic program driver and recognized leader focused on solving complex problems and long-term technology strategy. Currently the GE Aerospace electrical systems innovation committee chair, IP focal, and Senior Engineer leading the sensor and electrical hardware team on GE’s advanced T901 engine program, part of the U.S. Army’s Improved Turbine Engine Program (ITEP). Previously led multiple technology development programs specializing in complex electro-optical and RF integrated sensor systems, developed business synergies in sensing technologies, worked defense program proposals, and mapped prospective technologies for Aviation usage, with granted Patents and publications in multiple technology areas.I have also completed a Masters Degree in Mechanical Engineering through the GE Advanced Courses in Engineering Program at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, with a focus on MEMS and optical technologies. My research focused on the constitutive model development for advancing the Ionic Electro-Active Polymer (I-EAP) actuators that utilize aligned carbon nanotube composites. I-EAP actuators create large strains with low input voltages, and could therefore be used for future high strain sensing and actuation mechanisms such as synthetic muscles, microfluidic drug delivery, or low frequency energy harvesting.Specialties: Sensing Systems Development, Program Management, Technology Identification, Technological Innovation, Engine Control Systems, Electrical System Design, System Integration, Engine Performance, Monte Carlo Simulation, Circuit Design, MEMS Systems, Optical Systems, Automated Systems, EMI, Competitive Analyses, Technological Consulting
