Machine Learning Architect

Current

Milpitas, Ca, Us

Responsible for overseeing the design and execution of artificial intelligence and machine learning projects for the cPacket Networks CTO.

Apr 2017 - Present

Senior System Architect

Milpitas, Ca, Us

Develop Predictive Analytics and Machine Learning Algorithms

Apr 2017 - Apr 2019

Data Scientist

Innovative Algorithms, Llc

Designing and implementing algorithms (using Python, Pandas and StatsModels) to glean information from network traffic patterns.

Principal Software Engineer

San Francisco, Ca, Us

2012 - 2016Developed classes for a 2D Computational Geometry Library for a Game Engine. This included implementing Boolean operations on shapes, adding a quaternion class, oriented bounding boxes, a range tree and Bezier spline code.Wrote code to support transformations and animations of (hierarchical) shapes.Wrote code to parse SVG files and to translate the SVG shapes into our internal shape format.2002 - 2012Responsible for the Faceter module of the Autodesk Shape Manager (ASM) library. ASM is a geometry modelling kernel used in AutoCAD, Inventor and other Autodesk products. The Faceter module approximates geometrical models with triangles, and these triangles are sent to the graphics card for rendering.Improved the performance and reliability of the surface meshing code for ASM. This entailed completely rewriting whole sections of the code to use more efficient algorithms or more robust computations.Enhanced the ASM surface meshing code for the Moldflow team. At the end of the project, the number of CAD parts successfully imported into Moldflow Adviser using the ASM Faceter exceeded the number of CAD parts successfully imported using the product that created the file to mesh the part. The end result was higher quality imported models, fewer meshing failures in the Autodesk Simulation, Moldflow Adviser and Inventor Mold products, and reduced costs (because Autodesk was able to stop licensing the meshing kernels from other CAD companies).Worked with the Inventor team to improve the STL output environment. Lead the Beta testing effort for this feature.Adapted the meshing code for multi-core platforms by partitioning the work into thread-safe tasks to be executed in separate threads.Wrote code to convert a triangular mesh into a quad-dominant mesh for the AutoCAD team to use as a starting point for Subdivision Modeling.Led the team that ported ASM to the 64-bit platform and to the Microsoft VC8 compiler.

2002 - 2016 ~14 yrs

Senior Software Engineer

Oresis

Technical lead for the connection admission control (CAC) module.Designed and developed the (CAC) module for an ATM network edge switch. The CAC software seeks to maximize resource utilization of the switch while ensuring each connection receives its requested Quality of Service.Duties included writing functional and design specifications, creating algorithms and implementing real-time embedded C code.

1999 - 2002 ~3 yrs

Senior Software Engineer

Analogy, Inc.

Designed the “Math Services” module for an EDA simulation and modeling tool. This module would perform a functional dependency analysis of the modeling language statements, and also provided symbolic manipulation features for blocks of statements (using Mathematica internally).

1996 - 1999 ~3 yrs

Mathematician

Washington, Dc, Us

Collaborated on the design of the C++ classes for a real-time scheduler of a dataflow graph (as part of the PGMT visual programming tool).Applied concepts from information theory to construct a depth discriminant for shallow water wave-guides, and developed simulations to exhibit the effectiveness of the depth discriminant.Designed and implemented an efficient algorithm for calculating (a generalization of) the 2-D Maximum Entropy Spectral Estimate. The program was used to analyze data from the Very Large Array.
