I am a real estate investor living in downtown Raleigh, North Carolina.I buy and operate income property in North Carolina. Looking to buy bread-and-butter multifamily and retail property in exurbs surrounding metropolitan areas. My wife and I bought our first investment property in 2005. Since then, we have bought, sold, and managed many properties, and we continue to invest in real estate. Real estate has been at least as significant to our wealth as our retirement plans, and I am a proponent of including real property in wealth building. My last academic position was Distinguished Professor of Information Systems in the Cameron School of Business at UNC Wilmington. Teaching was a pleasure, and I especially enjoyed working as thesis advisor to masters degree candidates (close to 30!). I was able to help them find their passion, and offer guidance as they tackled a large, complex, year-long project. I continued to work until they were employed in their profession, in many cases directly referring them for a position. I maintain contact and enjoy celebrating their professional successes. Prior to being a professor, I was a software engineer, system architect, and project manager. Through my academic career, I remained engaged in industry as a database performance consultant.I enjoy the vibrant city of Raleigh and am personally and professionally invested in the development of the city and the people who call it home.
