Working across the federal government to scale up the use of nature based solutions to address social, economic, and environmental challenges.

Worked across 40 civilian and Department of Defense agencies and departments to support actionable climate information for decision making, cost benefit analysis of adaptation, nature based solutions, and climate resilient infrastructure.

Designing and implementing $3.6 billion of MCC investments consistent with the International Finance Corporation's Performance Standards on Environmental and Social Sustainability. • Providing technical leadership in climate change, nature based solutions, grey and green infrastructure, and geospatial information for decision making. • Fostering inter-agency collaboration to address environmental problems at scale, including through the President's Emergency Plan for Adaptation and Resilience (PREPARE).

Led 41 biologists throughout western Canada to: • Design US$ 37 billion in infrastructure projects to conserve biodiversity and maintain environmental services. • Assist oil, gas, and mining companies to integrate biodiversity considerations into all phases of their operations. • Support the Government of Canada's integration of natural resource conservation into development planning for the Arctic.

Formed partnerships to design and implement biodiversity programs: • With The Nature Conservancy reduced habitat loss by 88% on 2.1 million hectares of Andean parks and their buffer zones; • Spearheaded an alliance with Ministry of Environment and nine other organizations to complete first comprehensive national assessment of park financing needs (which resulted in significant additional resources); • Formed public-private partnerships in support of nature based solutions, working with The Nature Conservancy to strengthen Quito’s Water Fund and establishing privately supported water funds in Cuenca and Tungurahua. • Oversaw work by USAID staff and 34 cooperating institutions.

Formed partnerships to design and implement biodiversity conservation programs: • with the BOLFOR Program achieved Forest Stewardship Council certification of 2.1 million hectares in Bolivia; • With the Wildlife Conservation Society assisted the Tacana Indigenous People to create a 325,000 ha indigenous territory. • With The Nature Conservancy, developed ecotourism in the Eduardo Avaroa Reserve that generated five times more funds for communities through park entrance fees than they received from the central government; funds were used to construct two health centers for some of Bolivia’s poorest citizens.

Guided the design, implementation, and evaluation of USAID's programs to conserve biological diversity, the largest supported by any bilateral donor. This included the Global Conservation Program, which worked in 14 countries.

Supported the implementation of the Bank's Natural Habitats Policy, Global Environment Facility biodiversity projects, and infrastructure and agriculture investments in Colombia.
