Te Rapa Dairy is a milk spray drying plant near Hamilton. I conducted an investigation into a milk dilution problem:- Analysed the design, including the PLC logic- Took milk samples at certain points in the process as a function of time relative to the PLC logic and had them analysed in the laboratory for solids mass percentage.- Developed milk concentration versus time curves for the points in the process to build a picture of when and where dilution was occurring. - Wrote a report of findings with recommendations.

- Crude selection, short-term planning and implementation of a global refinery optimisation model on a RISC computer.- Analysed the source of oil losses for Caltex Refinery amounting to $US 10 million per annum and initiated corrective actions.
