Rockefeller Foundation Fellowship In Impact Investing And Policy Innovation ProgramImpact Investing Policy Collaborative Nov 2012 - Jul 2017Ottawa, Canada AreaTo date, Canada has lagged behind other developed countries in the creation and implementation of public policies which foster an enabling market space for impact investing. As a result the market for impact investing in Canada remains nascent, ad hoc, and with limited opportunity for scale and scope. While there have been calls for broad reforms to enhance the social finance and impact investing landscape in Canada, my project 'Enhancing the Space for Impact Investing in Canada: Examining the Potential of Equity-Tax Credits' will work to highlight the case for Canadian policy-makers to explore an incremental approach augmenting existing policy mechanisms, notably an equity-tax credit program, which leverages existing tax and regulatory frameworks in effort to encourage new capital for impact generation.
