Founded by Stefan Lawrence in 1999, Twentieth’s 6,000 square foot gallery and exhibition space has become Los Angeles' leader in curating the evolution of contemporary design.Twentieth’s design philosophy is grounded in the concept of innovation and what innovation means in view of design’s modern history as well as its contemporary evolution. During the twentieth century, design produced innovative relationships between form and function, often rethinking accepted structural norms and their material expression. This strategy of continually questioning fundamental principles of design in order to achieve innovative forms and ideas continues today, bringing with it expanded possibilities and new challenges. Twentieth is dedicated to this continual evolution by representing a selection of innovative designers, featuring exhibitions and events of special interest, as well as manufacturing a line of furniture and lighting that reflects these design ideals.Internationally renowned designers represented include Tom Dixon, Marcel Wanders, Zaha Hadid, Maarten Baas, and Tejo Remy. In addition Twentieth shows a broad range of emerging designers not found anywhere else.
