In 2016, I led a complete redesign of the Science Discovery Center, a hands-on STEM museum at the State University of New York at Oneonta. Consulted community stakeholders to assess needs, clarify values, and determine goals and strategies for the redesign. Managed reconstruction budget, coordinated vendor/contractor agreements, and internal resources. Reopened the museum on schedule in March 2017. Raised over $1 million in gifts and grants. Hosted the museum’s first-ever strategic planning process in 2019-2020, convening working groups, serving on all subcommittees and spearheading the implementation plan based on the strategic planning consultants’ recommendation. Supervised over 40 student museum guides, trained them on museum processes and provided guidance on development of independent exhibits and public programs.SUNY Oneonta Planetarium: Developed original public program content and presented live, interactive planetarium shows. Managed the public schedule and created resources to develop the presentation skills of student planetarians.Summer STEAM Institute: Designed, administered, and served as lead instructor for three iterations of our summer STEAM institute for students in grades 7-9. Prepared curriculum and all supporting materials, marketed the program to local youth, hired and supervised institute staff, and processed applications and tuition payments. 2041 Project: Created an innovative, multiyear, and cross-disciplinary project focused on climate change resilience. Funded by the Corning Foundation, the project awarded 12 faculty members a paid fellowship to involve their classes in imagining bold solutions to climate change. Developed and presented core project curriculum, supporting workshops, wrote and produced a podcast, designed supporting graphic materials including an illustrated timeline exhibit, and planned a college-wide exhibition.
