About Doug Steinbach
I am currently a graduate research assistant at Rice University in the Lou group. On top of this I am a project lead on the Owlsat cubesat for SEDS Rice. Formerly I was training to teach math in Sierra Leone through the Peace Corps. As an undergraduate I did extensive engineering research in mechanical material properties. I have had two engineering internships, one in the HVAC industry and one in the biomedical industry. During college I also volunteered at local high schools and with specials needs athletes.

Tests I performed were Brinnel hardness via micro indentation, Split Hopkinson Pressure Bar testing, 4 point dynamic flexure tests, and Charpy impact.

Performed tests with a universal testing machine and used dog bone samples in tension and isopescu samples in shear. Also manufactured micro air vehicles using pre preg carbon fiber.
