After 31 years at Woodard & Curran, helping the firm grow from a small local firm to one with a national footprint, I've retired. In 2020 I led the transition to our new CEO Alyson Watson and continued to serve as Board Chair. I couldn't be prouder of the exceptional leadership team in place, under Alyson's extraordinary vision, to take the firm to new heights. I joined Woodard & Curran in 1992, with 3 offices and annual revenues of $10M. As the firm expanded, I took on other roles including Director of Marketing, Business Unit Leader and eventually CEO in 2007. At that time, we were driving around $80M in revenue. Today the firm is generating over $300M in revenue, with over 1200 employees, serving clients across the country. It is most rewarding to see our private ownership model, started by Frank Woodard and Al Curran, thriving and continuing to serve as a foundational aspect of who the firm is today. I am forever thankful to so many colleagues, friends and mentors, who I worked with over those years, who helped to challenge the status quo, keep me grounded and found ways to mix in some laughter with the stress. My only hope was to leave Woodard & Curran better than I found it, and I'm proud to see have that through. I've shifted my attention to supporting other businesses and non-profit organizations through Board work and executive development. Today I enjoy serving on the Boards of several organizations in various stages of growth and development, to help sharpen their strategic focus, find ways to scale up their organization, and nurture the development of executive leadership to achieve greater things. I have also joined the faculty of the ACEC Senior Executive Institute helping to develop future leaders in the engineering industry.Most importantly I look forward to more time with my wife and family, at the lake, reflecting on how blessed we are, while working to remove all excuses for my golf game.
