Colleagues describe him as "Yes, owner of Surkut at the time, but also contracted with Absolute Machine Tools. Doug is one of the most genuine people I know. He is PHENOMENAL at applications engineering but especially high speed machining. One IMTS, I believe it was 2010, Doug worked so much and so hard with us to help our apps staff come up with demos and program them on our Johnford Hi-Net machines, that he basically moved into our home. In fact, he worked so many hours that we just left our back door open for him to come in from Canada all hours of the night. I learned Doug loves milk, so I kept plenty on-hand. The dogs wouldn't even bark at him because he was a regular at our home then. He had many meals with our family and the funniest thing was that our kids were much younger then, and some nights they would go to bed and Doug wasn't at our home, however, when they got up in the morning for school, there he was at our kitchen table. They just simply said "Good morning Doug!" and went about their business. It was a great time and he is Absolutely an expert in his field whether it be apps engineering, high speed machining, or programming and running his own CNCs now. Doug is a professional and always looking out for the customer. He helped us immensely at IMTS that year and Steve and I consider him a very close and wonderful friend."
