Contact:douglas.sanderson12@gmail.comwww.dsanderson.ca(416) 927-7272Prior to starting my private adjudication, mediation, and investigations practice, I practiced labour and employment law at a major international law firm, representing and advising employers in a variety of matters including workplace human rights, formation and termination of employment relationships and litigation.I was a Vice-Chair of the Human Rights Tribunal of Ontario between January 2011 and January 2021. In that role, I adjudicated Applications under the Human Rights Code, including workplace harassment and discrimination, the duty to accommodate in employment and post-secondary education, and reprisals. I was a successful mediator and resolved dozens of cases through mediation or mediation-adjudication. I was also assigned to manage difficult procedural issues and particularly disputatious parties because of my excellent case and hearing management skills.I also have experience working in an in-house role at a major Canadian bank. In this position, I addressed all manner of employee relations issues. In particular, I was responsible for conducting investigations into complaints of discrimination and harassment and other inappropriate behaviour, such as bullying. I also trained employee relations consultants to conduct fair, effective and timely investigations.I am currently available to conduct investigations, mediations and arbitrations of workplace disputes.
