As a Sailing Instructor I have the privilege of sharing my passion for sailing with enthusiastic learners of all ages. In my role as a part-time Student Assistant at TU Delft, I took on a position that allowed me to make a meaningful contribution to our academic community. Working approximately 4 hours per week, I organized and coordinated in collaboration with 3 other colleagues a series of celebratory events to mark the 10th anniversary of our master's program.The events included the following:- Symposium: the symposium marked the main celebration of the anniversary which brought together approximately 100 students, teachers, and alumni. For this event I was responsible for the communication with the catering, the correspondence with presenting professors and alumni, and I served as the presenter of the event.- Wind farm visit: in collaboration with Ventolines a wind farm visit to "Windpark Fryslân" in the IJselmeer was aranged.- Wind turbine workshop: responsible for the organisation of a wind turbine workshop. Over the course of 5 days a small wooden wind turbine was constructed in collaboration with approx. 15 fellow students. Throuhout the organisation I was responsible for the communication with the turbine location responsibles (The Green Village Delft), for the ordering of the right foundation, and the communication with the workshop leader.

In my role as the Skipper for Team Delft Challenge, I was responsible for shaping our training and competition schedules. This involved developing a comprehensive training schedule, organizing practice sessions, and implementing specialized drills to enhance our sailing skills and teamwork. Furthermore, after each session a detailed debriefing was conducted, writing down two positive and two improvement points for each team member based on personal experience and opinion. Offshore, I had the responsibility of decision-making onboard. During competitions and training sessions, quick and effective decision-making is essential to ensuring the safety of the team and optimizing our performance. I evaluated weather conditions, assessed the tactical situation, and made strategic decisions to steer the team towards success.

I served as the Boat Captain for Team Delft Challenge, a dedicated sailing team comprising 5 members from TU Delft. All team members combine management of the team with their onboard responsibilities. The aim of the project is to run a professional sailing campaign while persuing our studies. In my role as boat captain, I managed all sailing-related materials and equipment, ensuring their proper maintenance and functionality. Key responsibilties included:- Oversaw the upkeep and maintenance of sailing equipment to ensure optimal performance during competitions.- Collaborated with team members to integrate sailing responsibilities with academic pursuits, successfully balancing the demands of the sailing campaign and our studies.- Managed partnerships and collaborations with various companies to support our professional sailing endeavors, demonstrating strong interpersonal and negotiation skills.Being part of Team Delft Challenge allowed me to refine my leadership skills, strategic thinking, and multitasking abilities, contributing to the team's overall success in professional sailing campaigns.
