While my background is in fashion/retail I have been lucky enough to work in several other industries either as a freelancer or as a full-time (startup, advertising, events, hospitality, etc.). My main strengths include but not limited to :- Strategic Marketing/Planning (customers acquisition/retention)- Building, coaching, and leading marketing team/department- Business development, Strategic partnership (agencies, KOL, ...) At work I follow 5 Golden Rules: 1. If you don’t know, ASK 2. Finish FIRST, improve LATER 3. It’s not stupid if it WORKS (this one was taught to me by an intern :-)) 4. Work SMART > Work hard 5. Don’t stop till you are PROUD Whenever I interview a marketing candidate I ask the interviewee to define Marketing in one word. It sounds like an easy exercise but it’s truly not. Throughout the years I have heard a few interesting answers and some … irrelevant ones too. Here is mine. The short answer: Marketing = Sales The sole goal of Marketing is to sell. To sell a product or a service but only … The company values, their beliefs, their goals, their principles, and so on. A great company cannot/should not be limited to what it does. The long answer: Marketing = 50% data + 50% assumptions If you rely purely on data, you will lack flexibility and originality. Everybody has access to data. If you only listen to your instinct, then you would take un-calculated risks that may not pay off. I find that a mixture of both is the best way to go.
