I have been focusing on two primary objectives at Caliber Home Loans. First and foremost, to bring customer service back to the mortgage industry. In order to do that, the entire operation's staff had to be hired fresh and trained with new age best practices. On top of that, new technology systems were implemented to monitor, track, and tweak every step of the loan process. It took a few years, but the results have been amazing! My second objective was to set up a system designed to help educate homeowners on wealth building strategies using real estate. That is when I created Downs Capital. A culture where we don't just talk about rates, terms or products - we talk about wealth, life, desires, goals, and needs. If my team doesn't teach you something new and genuinely useful in each contact with us, we're not doing our job!

As the financial crisis healed, my team found MetLife to have the most compelling story for the future. We specialized in all lending products that existed for that time, although, that is not saying too much given the market conditions! MetLife decided to exit the mortgage business due to the "Too Big To Fail" classification it had due to the banking unit. In January of 2012, the company exited the mortgage business.

At SunTrust, I specialized in an interesting product line that was mostly geared to high net worth clients, Doctors, Lawyers, and various self-employed clients.
