Be Not Afraid Charity Campaign
Initiated, Launched and Co-Directed the Be Not Afraid charity wristband campaign. With the support of the Archbishop of Dublin, I worked alongside Pat O Donoghue in designing and executing this fundraising and awareness campaign from April 2005 on. We selected two worthy causes as our beneficiaries in Turning the Tide of Suicide in Ireland and the Irish Red Cross for their work in Darfur, Sudan. Be Not Afraid went on to win the support of several well-known public figures such as Padraig Harrington, Damien Duff, Westlife, Girls Aloud, Prime Minister Bertie Ahern and Archbishop Desmond Tutu of South Africa. From a retailing and distribution perspective it was generously supported by Superquinn, Nude and Veritas outlets nationwide. From inception to launch we turned the project round in seven weeks. Having secured national and international media exposure upon launch the campaign snowballed as we went on spend the summer spent the summer selling and making public fundraising appeals across the country. On 11th November 2005 the campaign was officially declared over and was delighted to have raised over €80,000 for The Irish Red Cross in Darfur and Turning the Tide of Suicide in Ireland.
