About David Hocking

I have recently joined the Tasmanian Museum and Art Gallery as the Senior Curator of Vertebrate Zoology and Palaeontology. I have a multidisciplinary research background combining traditional palaeontology and natural history with cutting-edge technological tools like 3D scanning and visualisation. My main area of expertise is in the evolution of behaviour in marine mammals; however, I also have ongoing projects exploring the behaviour and anatomy of living and extinct marsupials, sharks, snakes and birds. Please get in touch if you are interested in learning more about Australian wildlife and what we have in our museum collections.
