Established reusable pipelines and shared libraries that accelerated migrations to the new tooling and simplified integration of automated security and compliance checks. Established new hosting and operational models, standards, and tooling for applications migrating to new on-prem and public cloud hosting environments (i.e. Kubernetes, AWS). Provided guidance and assistance to application teams migrating to the new platforms. Worked with the bank's cloud platforms team to identify and prioritize capabilities for their backlog.Provided L1/L2 operational support services for most of the Consumer IT applications.

Managed the bank's first Big Data Engineering team, responsible for architecture and implementation of Enterprise-wide Big Data technologies and solutions.Worked with Platform Engineering teams to implement the bank's first Hadoop and Data Lake implementation. Led or assisted with the evaluation, selection, and implementation of a number of new products and technologies, including Hadoop, Spark, Kafka, Elasticsearch, Change Data Capture, data science tooling, and a new ETL platform.

Created and managed a group of three distinct application teams, responsible for more than 25 software products across the Consumer and Wealth and Asset Management IT divisions.The group's responsibilities included multi-channel core API and service development, as well as workflow and CRM applications supporting the Wealth and Asset Management LOB. Delivered successful projects related to debit/credit card management and processing, new deposit products, mobile check deposit, multi-factor authentication, actionable alerts, and book-of-business.Established the bank's first framework and set of patterns for REST API development, and introduced new tools and techniques for improving application resiliency, root cause identification, and health monitoring.

Established a team of architects responsible for strategic technical planning and solution architecture for Consumer IT applications, including 53.com, Internet and Mobile Banking, ATMs, IVR, and internal sales and servicing platforms for the branches and call centers.Provided solution architecture for the bank's first native mobile banking iOS and Android applications. Designed and coordinated the build-out of the new application hosting infrastructure for Consumer IT.

Introduced and sustained several process and methodology improvements, including streamlined release management, the bank’s first automated build and deployment solution, development tool standardization, a consistent and centralized artifact and dependency management solution, new monitoring tools, and personally created a declarative automation framework for WebSphere that was in active use for over 10 years.

As an Enterprise Architect, I provided strategic software planning (systems, platforms, applications) across business organizations and delivery channels. I helped to establish and communicate architectural standards and direction for a proprietary Internet Banking platform used across North American consumer organizations, and provided technical assessment and troubleshooting services across software engineering and operational teams.

As an architect and software engineering consultant at Fifth Third Bank I worked on a number of strategic initiatives. I was part of a team that introduced the bank's first set of Java-based enterprise integration libraries that served as a foundation for their new Internet Banking, customer service, and teller platforms. I helped to establish the bank's first set of omni-channel APIs, used to drive their first mobile banking platform and an enhanced ATM experience. I helped to design and build custom 3-D Secure Visa and MasterCard access control server implementations for the bank. I co-designed and built an event-driven notification engine used for dispatching ATM fault notifications as well as Consumer and Commercial customer alerts. And finally, I helped lead an effort to implement IBM WebSphere Portal.
