As an owner/operator I was responsible for the fiscal management and operations of this 12-employee printing and mailing services company started by my father as a one-man business in 1990. One highlight of my experience in this role was in 2011 shortly after my father died. Our company was going through a downturn in business, as many were due to the effects of the recession. Because of this I orchestrated a merger with a similar business from Iowa and relocated that business to combine with ours in Omaha. This deal enabled us to increase revenues from $900,000 to $2,300,000 the following fiscal year. Doing this essentially saved both companies from going out of business.
