Breakwater Communities' purpose is designed to maximize the quality of life for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) by providing intentional and neuro-diverse residential and vocational opportunities. This includes offering high-quality family-style homes, opportunities to discover self-worth through meaningful work, and intentional communities that foster lifelong friendship and interaction among those with and without IDD (ie neurodiversity).Led all aspects of start-up including feasibility study, business plan development, funding, and recruitment. Launch coincided with 2020 pandemic causing a need to pivot from new entity formation toward collaboration and partnering with an existing organization. Start-up deemed non-viable due to unforeseen external conditions.
