Dr. Almala serves as the Academic and Administrative Senior Official. He works hand in hand with NATI ESL Senior Leadership team to achieve the school’s mission, goals, and objectives. Responsible for managing and administering the ESL program, CEA accreditation, budget, academic policies and procedures, represents the school in local, regional, national and international meetings; presents at national and international conferences, attends campus events, and plans for new branches and auxiliary locations.

Dr. Abed Sami Almala serves as the Academic and Administrative Senior Official. Responsible for managing and administering state, programmatic and institutional accreditations, academic policies, procedures, and programs at the school. Specific responsibilities: Supervises student academic advisement, plans for assessment learning strategies; negotiates and signs articulation agreements, recruits and trains staff and fac-ulty members in accordance with the Institute’s policies and procedures; supervises, trains and evaluates academic and administrative assistants, department heads, academic advisers, and facul-ty members; proposes a schedule of classes to be offered each quarter; trains and mentors new staff and faculty; represents the institute in local, regional, national and international meetings; presents at national and international conferences, attends and manages campus meetings, work-shops, and official events; conducts new students and faculty orientations and coordinates student retention activities with the school’s teams; and provides the leadership necessary to execute policies and procedures, administers the academic programs, and supervises faculty while fulfilling the mission of the Institute.

Performs the educational review of the institution. Specific areas of evaluation include the school’s curriculum, pedagogy, instructor qualifications and training, staff development plan, Program Advisory Committees, and the school’s learning resource system.

Evaluates the distance education program in order to make a determination that the school’s delivery methods, instructional staff, resources, and equipment are in compliance with Accrediting Commission of Career Schools and Colleges (ACCSC) Distance Education Standards.

Served as a faculty lead for the math, statistics, and science academic programs. Taught 1 course per term, designed and developed new courses and revise current offerings. Hired new faculty. Coached and mentored faculty on the delivery of course content, class management, and instructional strategies. Conducted classroom observations and annual reviews of faculty; provide feedback to faculty regarding performance. Monitored faculty effectiveness. Maintained high level of faculty morale. Assisted in the orientation of new faculty members; served as team member for faculty in-service meetings and new faculty orientation meetings.

Specific responsibilities include: Planning for and participating in assessment strategies; recruiting and training faculty members in accordance with University policies and procedures; supervising, training and evaluating academic assistants, department heads and faculty members; proposing a schedule of classes to be offered each quarter; training and mentoring new deans and faculty; representing the university at local, regional, and national meetings; presenting at national and international conferences, attending and managing campus and regional faculty meetings, workshops, and official University ceremonies such as the annual Commencement Convocation; advising and counseling students; conducting new students and faculty orientations, coordinating student retention activities with the Campus Director; and providing the leadership necessary to administer the academic programs and supervise faculty while fulfilling the mission of the University.

Taught Physics 201 course for a professional, diverse and adult student population at the Alexandria and Annandale Campuses. Several undergraduate students from other colleges and universities have attended and completed the course during the summer semester successfully.

Served as an Adjunct Professor of Physics and Mathematics. Taught College Physics and Developmental College Algebra to Community College Students.

• Served as an Adjunct Professor of Higher Education and Educational Technology.• Designed and taught graduate (doctoral level) course in Teaching with Technology. Received exceptional student evaluations and invited back to teach at this institution.• Assisted Dr. Kettlewell in building a community college in Sierra Leone, Africa.

Taught math and physics courses to high school age students. Served as an Assistant Department Head, accreditation officer, and soccer coach.
