Dr. Adel Elgendy obtained his PhD degree in Civil Engineering "Irrigation and Hydraulic Engineering", from Menoufia University (on Analysis of Hydraulic Hazards Inundation of Delta Lands Due to High Dam Failure) in January 2015, MSc degree in Civil Engineering "Irrigation and Hydraulic Engineering" from El-Mansoura University [on Local Scour Downstream Barrages (Case Study; Zefta Barrages)] in October 2008 and BSc in Civil Engineering from El-Mansoura University in May 1985. He has been a member of the Egyptian Engineers Syndicate since 1985.Dr. Adel Elgendy has over 36 years of professional experience including more than 28 years as a Vice Chairman of Drainage Authority / Head of Central Department for Studies and Designs of Reservoirs and Grand Barrages / General Director / project manager/team leader and mission leader. He gained his technical and professional experience by working in various positions of Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation (Irrigation Sector, Reservoirs and Grand Barrages Sector and Drainage Authority) inside Egypt and abroad in Uganda as General Director of Owen Dam (Head of Egyptian Irrigation Mission) (Nile Water Sector). He has an extensive experience in managing large and medium-scale water resources, irrigation projects, drainage projects, rural/regional development projects, executing public infrastructure works including strategic planning, budgeting, design, procurement, tendering, construction, operation, maintenance and capacity building components.He worked as Vice Chairman of Egyptian Public Authority for Drainage Projects, for lower Egypt, MWRI, in 2021, where his main work was improving the surface drainage and subsurface drainage to improve the natural and chemical properties of soil in terms of reducing the ground water table level and reducing salinity to increase agricultural yields.He worked as Head of Central Department for Studies and Designs of Reservoirs and Grand Barrages, MWRI, where his main work was to prepare studies, designs, specifications and contracts to rehabilitate, or replacement, and reconstruction, of the grand barrages on the Nile, its branches, Riahat and the main canals. in addition, he worked as a member of the Board of Directors of the Egyptian Company for Irrigation, Drainage and Construction (part-time) in 2021.
