I am an Infection Biologist with a specialization in veterinary public health, actively addressing transboundary animal disease challenges with the Emergency Centre for Transboundary Animal Diseases (UN-FAO). I earned my PhD in Infection Biology from the UCD School of Veterinary Medicine, where my research delved into the health implications of Anaerobic Digestion (AD) residue in Ireland. This work provided in-depth insights into pathogen transmission routes and associated risks, guiding safer agricultural practices.As the head of the laboratory at the Clinic for Birds, Fish, Amphibians, and Reptiles in Gießen, Germany, I oversaw the virology, parasitology, and bacteriology departments. Under my leadership, and adhering to DIN/ISO 17025:2018 standards, the bacteriology laboratory was successfully accredited.Since 2021, I have been affiliated with the Emergency Centre for Transboundary Animal Diseases at the Joint FAO/IAEA Animal Production and Health Laboratory. My focus on emerging zoonotic and transboundary diseases, combined with a deep interest in animal disease diagnostics, has driven me to bridge academia, laboratory excellence, and on-the-ground animal health challenges.
