As a dedicated rural GP, I am passionate about delivering compassionate and comprehensive healthcare to communities. My journey has taken me from University and study in Egypt, to interesting and engaging work in Oman and now, Far North Queensland, Australia. In 2023, I was fortunate to find a position at Mareeba Medical in the beautiful Atherton Tablelands region. After the arduous process of immigration and registration requirements, landing in this supportive rural practice and community has been a relief. It is a privilege to work with colleagues and co-workers who share my genuine commitment to the unique needs of rural populations. I thrive in the diverse and dynamic environment of rural general practice, where every day presents new opportunities to make a difference and learn something new. My work encompasses a wide range of medical challenges and I take pride in providing personalised care, fostering strong patient and work relationships, and contributing to the overall wellbeing of the community. Being in Far North Queensland Australia, I understand the importance of accessibility and continuity of care, and I am dedicated to addressing the healthcare disparities that can arise in these regions. My commitment extends beyond the consultation room, as I actively engage in local health initiatives like making myself available for interviews by ABC radio and engaging in discussions with other stakeholders on how to structure and fund outreach clinics and extend our practice opening hours to increase access to care. A good day at work for me is working well with others in a multi-disciplinary team; having positive communication with patients and colleagues alike; and enjoying a sense of mutual trust with team mates and patients alike.I am always eager to connect with likeminded professionals and learn more about how we can work together to advance rural primary healthcare delivery.
