Phd In Analytical ChemistyUniversity Of Greenwich Jan 2014 - Jan 2017Medway Campus, Chatham, United Kingdom• The objective of this project was to synthesise a range of novel cyclic dipeptides (DKP derivatives) possessing potentially useful clinical activities. • Various instrumental techniques were utilised in order to determine the purity, structure and conformation of cyclic dipeptides in the solid, solution and gaseous states; namely NMR (solid and solution state), MS, dispersive Raman/surface enhanced Raman, infra-red spectroscopy, temperature dependent XRPD and single crystal X-ray diffraction. • Gaussian and CASTEP molecular modelling packages were used to determine the theoretical structures of the synthesised molecules in the solid, solution and gaseous phases. In addition, the modelling packages were utilised to obtain theoretical spectroscopic data in order to compare and contrast with experimental data outputs. -
