Ajeet Kumar received his PhD degree in Electronics and Communication Engineering from IIT Roorkee. Currently, he is working as a full-time researcher (Researcher Level IV) at the CNIT - National Laboratory of Radar and Surveillance Systems (RaSS), Italy. He has more than ten years of experience working with real Satellite datasets for Earth and Planetary observations. From 2014 to 2017, he worked with the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) mission of Radar Imaging Satellites (RISAT-1), the world's first earth observatory satellite that produced hybrid-polarimetry SAR datasets. Further, he was also involved in another ISRO spaceborne mission of Chandrayaan-2 (CH-2), where he established a highly accurate dielectric estimation model for the lunar regolith. Since 2021, he has been working on the Office of Naval Research Global (ONR Global) sponsored project of ATR by means of Polarimetric ISAR Images and multi-view 3D InISAR. Currently, he is also involved in another pioneer European Space Agency (ESA) "EO4SECURITY" project that is dedicated to monitoring environmental crimes and illegal activities. This project exploits the benefits of Inverse SAR to improve SAR imaging capabilities. Dr Kumar's research interests include Polarimetric SAR (PolSAR), Hybrid-Polarimetry SAR (Hybrid-pol SAR), Interferometry SAR (InSAR), and Inverse SAR (ISAR) based radar applications and within these research domains, he made significant contributions leading to the publication of more than 15 SCI Journal papers and various well-regarded conference presentations. He serves as a reviewer for renowned IEEE, IET, Elsevier, Taylor & Francis, and MDPI journals. He has recently been elevated to senior grade as a member of the International Union of Radio Science (URSI) for his vital contribution as a radio scientist. Additionally, he is a two-time recipient (2022 and 2024) of the prestigious Young Scientist Award (YSA) presented by the International Union of Radio Science (URSI).
