As part of Siemens Corporate Technology, our role is to assure the technological future of Siemens worldwide. Me and my team specializes on bringing standard off-the-shelf communications hardware to its limits, achieving new features out of existing hardware before anybody else discovers them. Following the current trends in wireless communication, and influencing them directly by being part of the standardization groups are also part of the daily tasks.- Responsible for Identification and Locality Determination Services- Strategy definition of the technological development in the areas of localization technologies, software defined radio and wireless communication- Technology consulting in the area of networks & communication- Project management for research activities

In the working group „Wireless Communications“ of Siemens Corporate Technology we develop new communication solutions for the sectors Industry, Energy and Healthcare, in the context of the technological advances in the area of wireless networks. We create concepts and implementations for optimal network architectures and communications solutions. In close cooperation with our sites in Peking and Vienna we have the possibility to transfer our research results directly into near-product solutions. A major part of our work is motivated by the increasingly distributed hardware and software components and the arising demands they pose to new kinds of communication systems. The challenges present themselves mainly in the high requirements that have to be fulfilled in each specific field of application (i.e. energy efficiency, latency, determinismus).
