Amit has been working in the IT industry and in academic research / teaching in the area of Data Science for the past 25 years. He is currently working as Professor and Dean (Industry Consultancy) at the Institute of Engineering & Management. Amit has done Ph.D. at University of Calcutta in the area of Machine Learning and M. Tech. from Birla Institute of Technology & Science, Pilani. Before that, he did graduation in Electrical Engineering from Bengal Engineering College, Shibpur (currently known as IIEST). Amit has 25+ research papers in the area of data analytics and machine learning published in referred international journals and conferences. He has also written textbooks on Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Deep Learning and Big Data published by Pearson, primarily for the under-graduate students. He also has been a regular speaker in the area of data analytics and machine learning. In the last role Amit was working as Principal Director, LTIMindtree working as the Competency Development Partner in the Digital Engineering Practice. In the past he has worked at Cognizant Technology Solutions for more than a decade and at Tata Consultancy Services. He started his career in Tata Consultancy Services. Then he was a part of the management team in Cognizant Technology Solutions focusing primarily on growing analytics and information management business. He has worked in diverse industry segments (e.g. Telecom, Financial Services, Insurance and Life Sciences) and different geographies within and outside India. He has also provided consulting in the area of Data Science with companies like Rebaca Technologies, Dirac Business Solutions Pvt. Ltd and IT program management support to Department of Higher Education, Government of West Bengal.
