Research Fellow and lecturer at the Lauder School of Government, Diplomacy.Security Areas of expertise: criminal and moral aspects of suicide terrorism particularly as they relate to gender issues, negotiating and interrogating terrorists, psychological warfare and strategic communications.

Dr. Berko accepted Israeli Prime Minister Benyamin Netanyahu's request that she join the Likud list for the 20th Knesset and she was elected to the Knesset in March, 2015. She completed her service in the Knesset in April, 2019. While a Knesset member, Berko served as a strategic and security advisor to the Prime Minister. She was the head of the classified Subcommittee dealing with Cyber Security, and served as a member of the Knesset’s Security and Foreign Affairs Committee and of the classified Subcommittee dealing with Intelligence and Security Services. Berko also served as head of the Israeli mission to the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE). As a legislator, Dr. Berko introduced 12 bills which became law, the majority of which are related to counter-terrorism and protecting democracy.

Headed a branch providing unique services to women in the IDF’S Advisor’s Office for Women Affairs (2002). Other professional activities: A member of governmental teams dealing with Counter-Terrorism in the IDF and The Israeli Council for National Security. Has provided seminars, lectures and guidance to national and international senior governmental decision makers on countering suicide bombers and their dispatchers. Dr. Berko has presented in distinguished forums such as the UN, West Point, the FBI, American police departments, the US State Department and academic forums such as the American Psychiatrist & Psychological Association and schools of psychology. She has extensive academic field experience coupled with practical involvement and personal interaction with key Muslim and spiritual leaders, terrorists and criminals in prison. Dr. Berko appears in national and international media outlets and provides analyses on terrorism and security.
