• Developed and taught undergraduate and graduate-level chemical engineering fundamentals and safety courses: CM5900 Membrane Separation Fundamentals and Applications; CM4120 Chemical Plant Operations Laboratory (A capstone laboratory course focused on chemical manufacturing processes using the pilot-scale experiments.); CM4310 Chemical Process Safety/Environment and CM5310 Laboratory Safety; Course topics included: Process Safety Concepts, Regulatory Requirements and Standards, Toxicology, Hazardous Properties of Materials: Toxicity, Flammability, Reactivity, Biohazards, Radioactivity and Physical Hazards, Industrial Hygiene, Source and Dispersion Models, Fires and Explosions, Chemical Reactivity, Process Safety in Design, Hazard Identification and Risk Analysis, Standard Operating Procedures, Laboratory Equipment, Chemical Handling, Laboratory Facilities, Laboratory Security, Laboratory Inspections and Job Safety Assessment, Process Safety Management Systems, Pollution Prevention, Introduction to Sustainability and Environmental Issues, Estimating and Dealing with Waste and Emissions.• Effectively procured equipment and established a new membrane research lab.• Developed research proposals for funding and conducted research in membrane water treatment.• As Chair of the EHS Committee and member of the University Safety Council, provided leadership for implementation of EHS practices across all research labs in the Department of Chemical Engineering.• Developed and deployed an EHS audit program with the participation of Graduate Students to audit all Chemical Engineering research labs.• Championed the development of key strategies to drive process safety and risk management awareness across campus and make Process Safety part of the campus DNA.
