Dr Andrew Agapiou is a Senior Lecturer at the Department of Architecture, University of Strathclyde. He leads the delivery of the Professional Studies curriculum for undergraduate and postgraduate programmes and has also delivered modules on the LLM Construction Law programme within Strathclyde's Law School. He qualified as a Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) in Australia, is a member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (MCIArb), Association for Project Management (MAPM), and Institute of Engineering & Technology (MIET). He completed his undergraduate studies in Architectural Engineering (ARB Part 1) at the University of Leeds, Andrew then joined Cundall Consulting. After graduating with an MSc in Construction Project Management, he completed a PhD in Construction Economics at Loughborough University. Andrew has since completed postgraduate studies in Construction Law and Mediation at Robert Gordon and Strathclyde Universities respectively. Andrew practises as a Certified Mediator and combines 25 + years of professional experience with academic positions in the UK & Australia. Andrew is a well-respected researcher known for his expertise in the legalities of the construction process. He leads the Construction Procurement and Law Research Cluster at the University of Strathclyde. He is the Coordinator of the W113 Law and Dispute Resolution Working Commission CIB International Council for Research in Building and Construction. He has published monographs on Court-Connected Construction Mediation Practice and Alternative Dispute Resolution in the UK Construction Industry. Andrew holds External Examiner appointments at Solent University and UCLAN. He also has a growing reputation within academic and professional circles. He has been appointed to several prominent positions, reflecting his expertise in Architecture & Construction Law, including the Royal Incorporation of Architects in Scotland Contracts Committee, Royal Institute of British Architects Professional Conduct Panel, International Bar Association International Construction Projects Committee and the CIArb Scottish Branch Committee. Andrew is also an Innovation Champion at Built Environment - Smarter Transformation and Trustee of the Glasgow Building Preservation Trust.
