Completed PhD in agricultural sciences from Graduate School of Life and Environmental Sciences, University of Tsukuba, Japan under the Global Food Security Partnership Program (MEXT scholarship). Prof. Sosaku Ichikawa supervised my PhD thesis, entitled “Solvent extraction and continuous hydrothermal liquefaction of native microalgae for biofuel production.” My PhD thesis was a part of project in Algae biomass and energy system, R & D center, Tsukuba, Japan. My thesis showed that biocrude could be successfully produced from the native microalgae using hydrothermal liquefaction (HTL) process. The methods used could be applied for the other polyculture species as well since the overall elemental composition of polyculture species cultivated at different geographical regions varies slightly. Monoculture microalgae species having a higher oil content could be processed directly for oil extraction. However, HTL technology could be effective for the biocrude production from the polyculture as well monoculture microalgal species which had a lower oil content since HTL often result in an increased oil yield due to conversion of proteins and carbohydrates moieties into lipids.My research proceedings in PhD include one accepted publication and two manuscripts which are under internal review. Additional achievements include three oral and four poster presentations in national and international conferences.I completed masters from National Institute of Technology, Karnataka (An institute of national importance) India in 2013. Later, I joined Central Food Technological Research Institute (CSIR-CFTRI), Mysore, India for master's research and continued my research work as a research intern for two more years. There, I worked on extraction and purification of moringa seed protein. My research proceedings in CFTRI include one patent (application filed), two publications and four poster presentations in national and international symposia.
