The tremendous growth in Indian aviation and the importance of this traffic to South Asia and the United States has prompted the US FAA to send its first representative to New Delhi. A lot has happened since Randall S. Fiertz arrived in July 2006. Under this arrangement, however, the FAA is able to work with a team of American companies to present joint solutions for aviation safety problems. The result is more flexibility and more possibilities under what is called an Aviation Cooperation Program (ACP). A Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for this program was initiated in April-07 during visit to India by Federal Aviation Administrator Marion Blakey brings it into effect. The formal signing ceremony took place in Washington, DC on June 22 between Indian Minister of Civil Aviation Praful Patel and US Trade Develop Agency. The U.S-India Aviation Cooperation Program (ACP), a public-private partnership between the U.S. Trade Development Agency (USTDA), the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and U.S. aviation companies, has been established to provide a forum for unified communication between the Government of India and U.S. public and private sector entities in India. The ACP is designed to work directly with the Indian Government to identify and support India's civil aviation sector modernization priorities. Government of India has formed a Committee to prepare a report on Futuristic Air Navigation Service- Master Plan for India and I was Secretary of the Committee. The Committee report had been submitted to Ministry of Civil Aviation, Government of India for consideration. Ground Based Augmentation System (GBAS) project for Delhi and Mumbai airport was independently handled by me from preparation of Expression of Interest (EOI), Tender Document upto the technical evaluation stage. My current duty was to monitor the progress of Indian Satellite Based Argumentation System (SBAS) i. e GPS Aided GEO Augmented Navigation (GAGAN) and attend the in-house meeting related to GAGAN and also prepare the minutes of the meeting for information and further necessary action.

I was the Member Secretary for the GAGAN certification Committee and process of preparing the document with FAA support as per International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) Standards And Recommended Practice’s (SARP’s). Also involve in the process of upgrading the AAI flight inspection aircraft for GAGAN and GBAS certification capability.Responsible for review the IONO-TROPO modelling progress made by Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) and report to AAI board members accordingly in progress made.
