Over two decades of experience as a Researcher, Trainer, Scientist, and successful Administrator, I have worked to incubate excellence in interdisciplinary research in Science and Technology and its applications for the betterment of society. Currently I am serving as the Director of the National Innovation Foundation-India- an Autonomous Institution under the Department of Science & Technology, Govt. of India, wherein we drive initiatives to nurture and promote grassroots innovations and preserve the rich heritage of the Indian Knowledge System through managing the Intellectual Property Rights.Presently engaged in enhancing grassroots innovations through research and development, design improvement, prototyping, testing, helping in patent applications, and plant variety registrations for PPV & FRA. Involved in facilitating the dissemination and diffusion of successful innovations, technology transfer and business incubation wherever possible. It is a matter of pride that numerous grassroots technologies supported by NIF are now commercially available, significantly improving the lives of many people.My journey started with observational astronomy at IUCAA, Pune - institute of national repute in 2001. I have sharpened my skills in developing advanced techniques and promoting independent critical thinking to take the challenges in R & D. These skills and expertise made me to start my professional career as a scientist and science communicator at Vigyan Prasar - an autonomous organization under the Department of Science and Technology, Govt. of India. Worked as a National Convener for Vidyarthi Vigyan Manthan – a national science talent search examination. We pioneered the use of an online platform equipped with digital devices in the year 2017 to conduct secure and efficient examinations, setting a new benchmark for academic assessments, especially well ahead of challenging times of the COVID-19 pandemic.My leadership extended in managing interdisciplinary teams and fostering collaboration among experts, academicians, educators, and common citizens when I served as a Registrar of Vigyan Prasar and Executive Director at Indian National Science Academy, New Delh. Serving as an expert committee member of various universities like JNU, IGU, PU, BAMU etc. and institutions like NCERT, NIScPR, NCSM, Planetariums, etc. gives enough scope to utilise and share the experience for successful outcome and results.I believe in 3Cs- Collaboration, Cooperation and Coexistence for effective outcome.
