I led of the Kākāriki Karaka / Orange-fronted Parakeet Recovery Group, partnering with Ngāi Tahu and working with a group of technical experts for the recovery of Aotearoa's rarest forest bird.

I joined Wildlife Conservation & Science team at Zoos Victoria (a world leading zoo-based conservation organisation) as a researcher. In this role, I worked collaboratively with a range of partners to improve the conservation situation for threatened native species, through active in situ efforts (e.g. translocations) to better understand ideal conditions for captive breeding.

Healesville, Melbourne, Australia

I covered the position of Life Sciences Manager - Conservation and Research at Healesville Sanctuary (part of Zoos Victoria, a world leading zoo-based conservation organisation) for twelve months. I managed the conservation programs of 10 threatened species at Healesville, including Tasmanian Devil, Leadbeater's Possum, Helmeted Honeyeater, Guthega Skink and Southern Corroboree Frog. In addition to breeding these species for insurance, education and/or release, I researched their biology and husbandry, in collaboration with a range of partners. I also led the Threatened Mammals team, which includes twelve keepers who manage the daily husbandry, breeding and welfare of a number of endangered Australian species.

I taught a range of ecology and zoology units to second- and third-year students in the School of Biological Sciences. This included presenting lectures, teaching practical laboratory and field work, assisting students, and providing feedback on assignments. I also developed and implemented a new practical class on ecological modelling for the third-year unit Ecological Applications.
