I am a consultant and data scientist committed to helping enable the transition to a net-zero world. My main focus is on delivering research projects and innovative tools using advanced numerical methods, optimisation algorithms and machine learning techniques.Following a Master's in Physics, I spent a year working at an electricity distribution network, where I learned the ins & outs of how our energy network works, I decided to do a PhD in Plasma Physics at the University of Liverpool, where I learned how develop and manage complex computational models. I published two academic papers and received multiple citations.After my PhD, I wanted to move into a role where I could put my modelling skills to use helping prevent a climate catastrophe. My position at City Science is the perfect for this, I have worked on projects around heat pump roll-out, construction emissions, hydrogen hub optimisation and electric vehicle forecasting. The projects require a wide-range of technical skills, including programming with python, including libraries such as SciKitLearn, TensorFlow and PySpark; database management with SQL, geospatial analysis with QGIS, GeoPandas & our in-house mapping tool Cadence 360; transport modelling techniques; Energy Plus simulations and carbon accounting. I also perform stakeholder engagement through workshops, questionnaires & webinars and write tenders & bids to help the company win more work.
