Dr Ben was honored to be appointed the interim and Founding Clinical Director at Abu Dhabi Stem Cells Center, as a contract secondment from his CEO/CIO position at Rivers International. He performed an integral role in development of clinical, operational, IT development and analytics, health informatics, governance, protocols and compliance; facility management, and scientific research functions for ADSCC. Owned by the Abu Dhabi Royal family, Abu Dhabi Stem Cells Center is a clinical, sophisticated laboratory and scientific research center in Abu Dhabi, and highlights the deep commitment to innovation and research in healthcare and science by the leaders of the UAE. It focuses on advanced cell therapy development and stem cell clinical services for the citizens of UAE and the MENA region.The Center incorporates advanced Lionheart FX microscopy, sophisticated flow cytometry, extracorporeal photophoresis (ECP), and cryopreservation facilities. Clinical services in more than 10 specialties are being developed in phases, commencing with orthopedics, urology, haematology, clinical laboratory, immunology, urology and family/internal medicine.Dr Ben's clinical knowledge, healthcare leadership and startup experience in the GCC were certainly tested to the limit in order to rapidly develop an international team, mostly new to UAE and with little healthcare management experience, from a stage of building construction site to the facility opening. Their recent work with VSEL stem cell technology in the fight against covid19 has been remarkable and has earned international recognition and praise from the Crown Prince of the UAE.

MALAFFI is a startup PPP between the Abu Dhabi Department of Health and Injazat Data Systems (Mubadala).
