Dr. Binti Singh is an academic and holds a Ph.D. (in urban studies) and an M.Phil. (in Planning and Development) from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT Bombay), Mumbai, India. She is currently Dean of Research, KRVIA, Mumbai. She supervises Masters and PhD. students in international universities including Massachusetts Institute of Technology(MIT) and University of Virginia, USA. She steers research projects and is part of international research consortiums. An ongoing is the Ideatlas project on mapping of informal habitats using EO techniques with the University of Twente, Netherlands supported by the European Space Agency and UN Habitat where she is co-anchor for Mumbai Living Lab and engages in co-creation of a user friendly software that will help in the delineation of informal habitats in MMR for monitoring of SDG 11.1.1. In February 2024 she presented her work in the University of Strasbourg, France.In March 2024, she has organized and co-chaired an international conference on Climate Justice and Resilience with the University of Florida, USA. In 2023 she received an award from the Governor of Maharashtra for her contribution to academic research on cultural sustainability. In April 2023 her seventh book Cities of India Changes and Choices was launched by the Union Minister of Road Transport and Highways, Government of India, Shri Nitin Gadkari in an award function in New Delhi.Binti is Book Series Editor on Urban Futures with Routledge, UK.
