I am a zoologist & environmental scientist with 25+ years professional experience. My interests include ecological survey and planning, Critical Habitat Assessment under IFC PS6 and EBRD PR6, Environmental (& Social) Impact Assessment (ESIA), acting as Lender's Environmental & Social Consultant (LESC) and more recently development of corporate Biodiversity Action Strategies and Nature Positive through frameworks such as CSRD (ESRS E4) and TNFD.I am currently AECOM's technical lead in the EUR&I region for international terrestrial ecology and have worked on ecological projects and ESIAs in-country in Saudi Arabia, Uganda, Gabon, Mozambique, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Turkey, Kuwait, Romania, St Helena, Germany, Montenegro, Ireland, Scotland and the rUK. Other projects have been located in Albania, Angola, Antigua & Barbuda, Austria, Azerbaijan, Benin, Bulgaria, Cote d'Ivoire, Egypt, Georgia, Ghana, Guam, Guinea, Honduras, Indonesia, Kazakhstan, Kenya, Madagascar, Senegal, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Tajikistan, Trinidad, Ukraine, Vietnam & Zambia. These have been in the energy sector including solar, wind, hydro and oil & gas, transportation projects including roads, railways, bridges and airports, water supply, housing, industrial and most recently major tourism and mega-infrastructure developments.Experience has included project management, planning and leading field surveys, writing technical EIA/ESIA chapters and Biodiversity Action Plans (BAP), technical review, mitigation and net gain planning, regulatory advice, public and statutory consultations, mentoring and EIA training, and appearance at Public Inquiry and before Scottish Parliamentary Committees.Recent projects have included involvement in major infrastructure projects in Saudi Arabia including NEOM, Amaala, AlUla and the Red Sea Project, and managing ecological surveys in the Murchison Falls National Park in Uganda, where surveys covered all main taxa including mammals, birds, herptiles & invertebrates as well as habitat mapping and Critical Habitat issues. In Gabon I led ecological studies for an ESIA in an area where chimpanzees, manatees and mangrove are the main receptors. I have also managed ESIAs in Turkey, including for the Yavuz Sultan Selim Bridge (Bosphorus Third Bridge) & Northern Marmara Motorway project. Since 2013 I have been acting as LESC for the the Surgil UGCC gas to plastics project in Uzbekistan near Qo‘ng‘irot (Kungrad), including annual inspection of gas well sites in areas that were once part of the Aral Sea.I am a UK & EU (Ireland) passport holder.
