Campbell developed and has lead the Masters level multidisciplinary course ' Clinical Issues in Stroke Care' annually since 2009.The course aims to prepare the practitioner to gain a deeper understanding of the current clinical issues in stroke care and explore their impact.The course remains the only Masters level specialist stroke course in Scotland.

Campbell successfully secured the only Stroke Nurse Consultant post in Scotland within NHS Lanarkshire in October 2007. He provided expert leadership and consultancy across stroke services within Lanarkshire. He was an advisor on the National Advisory Committee for Stroke for the Scottish Government and a member of the Cross Party Group for Stroke at the Scottish Parliament.Significant achievements included:- As lead for the annual ‘Think FAST & Save a Life Stroke Awareness Campaign’ in partnership with CHSS, arranging for 335,000 campaign flyers to go through every door in Lanarkshire. - Delivering expert practice at a Transient Ischaemic Attack (TIA) Clinic. He was the only nurse in Scotland accountable for TIA patients (normally undertaken by medical consultant).- Won Self Mangement Partnership for the Year 2015: NHS Lanarkshire and CHSS. He secured £400k funding to introduce self management approaches for stroke including the Lifestyle Management programme, the stroke workbook resource and www.Selfhelp4Stroke. - He led the development of a ‘Stroke Visual Pathway’ creating equity and access to services across Lanarkshire for people who experience eye problems after stroke. - He developed and led the ‘Stroke Education Pathway’ in Lanarkshire.This included the creation of the CHSS Stroke Practice Development Facilitator post, the online stroke competency toolkit (SCoT) and a stroke educational board game.- In 2001 he co-founded the Scottish Stroke Nurses Forum for nurses with an interest in stroke.
