I am at present an independent researcher specialising in comparative politics of the Middle East and North Africa region (MENA). My areas of expertise include youth and political agency in the region, political participation, authoritarian resilience, democratisation, civil society, opposition political parties, international democratic 'aid', the 2011 Arab Uprisings, and identity and politics in football. Cases I specialise include Morocco, Egypt, Tunisia, Jordan, Libya, and Iraq and wider MENA and Global South.I have recently been awarded my PhD in Middle East Politics by the University of Exeter, where I was based in the Institute of Arab and Islamic Studies (IAIS). My research examined the impacts and legacy of the 2011 Arab Uprising phenomenon on newer modes of youth political participation in Morocco over the years since. I am now in the process of publishing my thesis as a book whilst pursuing new and exciting research opportunities to contribute my skills and knowledge to and build my research career. I have carried out several research trips to Morocco (mainly Rabat and Marrakech) to interview youth activists, relevant NGOs, and political party members, over the course of 2017-present. I was an ESRC doctoral student, fully funded by the research council through its South West Doctoral Training Partnership. My research and analytical skills have been well received both within IAIS and beyond through workshop presentations, conference presenting, publications, and international networking.I have also recently worked as a postdoctoral research associate at the University of Leeds on open research case studies, helping to expand the university’s profile in this developing area.ORCiD id: https://orcid.org/0000-0002-9568-6994
