Dr. Chris Sears is a Professional Biologist with 11 years of experience as an applied vegetation biologist. He currently leads a team of six vegetation biologists at Golder | WSP. He has extensive experience collecting, analyzing, and reporting on vegetation and ecosystem field data for environmental assessments in accordance with provincial and federal requirements in Canada. Chris applies sophisticated data visualization, and analytical techniques to elucidate and quantify potential project/vegetation interactions. He has applied these techniques to plant species at risk, ecological communities, invasive plant species, First Nations botanical resources, long-term wetland monitoring programs, bird point count data, camera trapping data, and surficial hydrology. He has written detailed technical reports for industry, government and he has published several peer-reviewed botanical scientific papers. Chris is a volunteer member of the British Columbia Flora Expert Committee and an honorary research associate at the University of British Columbia. He conducts independent research on native North American orchids (Platanthera), cinquefoils (Potentilla), and hawksbeards (Crepis s.s.).
