In this role, I was the Housing Department Specialist for the HUD-VASH Homeless Veteran Program and the Domiciliary Service. I created data collection tools and assisted program case managers to screen, refer and admit candidates into the program, partnering with social workers to promote housing stability and creating directories and database for all known resources. I assisted veterans with rental applications, credit checks, and supported their housing searches, coordinating services between the VA, housing facilities, public housing authorities, landlords, rental associations, community groups, and other departmental agencies.Notable achievements include:• I secured permanent housing for 28 homeless veterans in a 90-day period, increasing the permanent housing ratio over 100%.
