I am passionate about concrete technology and associated research, and how it advances the robust creation and/or redevelopment of property, infrastructure, mining and marine facilities.I enjoy providing strategic technical advice to help clients such as Multiplex, Transport for New South Wales and John Holland – helping them make informed commercial decisions about their assets, products and strategies. I also enjoy providing strategic advice to concrete industry associations and learned societies. Some recent projects include: Sydney Metro Tunnels Stations, Quay Quarter Tower and a range of legal matters involving concrete.Leveraging my academic experience and my role as Industry Fellow at the School of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the University of Technology in Sydney, I am also driven by helping clients to resolve conflicts that are associated with construction law and better using materials in projects.I’m actively involved in research and development of concrete and have authored more than 120 research papers about concrete materials, structural design, concrete durability and serviceability, in major infrastructure. During my career, I’ve; had my own consultancy; held management roles with CSR, Readymix, Rinker and CEMEX Australia and worked at CSIRO Division of Building, Construction and Engineering, where I completed my PhD in Civil Engineering on Corrosion of Steel Reinforcement in Concrete.I hold a Bachelor of Civil Engineering and a Masters of Engineering Science and Civil Engineering (underpinned by research on durability of fly ash and other concretes). My proudest professional milestones include leading a high performing team at BG&E, receiving Fellowship of American Concrete Institute, Life Membership of the Concrete Institute of Australia and working in a team that set up a major academic research centre at UTS focusing on aspects of concrete durability.
