I spent five years in Switzerland studying chemistry both at Novartis AG as a co-worker in the Crop-Protection-Group, and then as a Ph.D. student under the supervision of Prof. François Diederich at the ETH-Zürich. During this period I had the possibility to explore interdisciplinary fields such as heterogeneous catalysis, supramolecular chemistry, as well as solid phase synthesis, in an inspiring and interactive working atmosphere.I then undertook postdoctoral studies in the research group of Prof. André B. Charette at the University of Montréal. My area of investigation covered development of new routes to alpha-amino acids derivatives via stereoselective nucleophilic addition reactions to imines, and the elaboration of novel supported reagents to evaluate their efficiency in specific organic reactions (especially in peptide chemistry), their ease of recovery, and their potential for recycling. In January 2004, I joined the scientific group of Prof. Christian G. Bochet at the University of Fribourg for additional postdoctoral studies. My research topics involved the functionalization of glass slides with new photolabile moieties, and their use in selective photochemical reactions. In October 2004, I accepted a position of project leader at Polyphor Ltd. (Allschwil-Basel Land) with the responsibilities to develop, supervise, and complete projects devoted to focused libraries, and medicinal chemistry. After two years of exciting chemistry, I moved to Lonza Ltd. in Visp, where I was a project leader in the field of peptides and oligonucleotides. My main tasks consisted of the development, optimization and production of peptides. After 3 years at Lonza, I took the opportunity to teach sciences and maths in different schools while I was following the HEP (High school of Pedagogy) at St-Maurice for 3 years.
