Researching well-being at work, job quality, flexible working including remote work, and work-life balance. I am a Reader in Business and Labour Economics, based in the Department of Management at the University of Birmingham. My research focuses on work and well-being including job quality, work-life balance and flexible working arrangements, spatial dimensions of work including work-related travel, and other aspects of time-use including leisure time, and the household division of labour. I am author of two research monographs, Well-being and the Quality of Working Lives, and Time Well Spent: Subjective Well-being and the Organization of Time. I am the editor of the IGI Global Handbook of Research on Remote Work and Worker Well-Being in the Post-COVID-19 Era, and the Edward Elgar Handbook of Research Methods on the Quality of Working Lives. I currently act as Head of Academic Quality Assurance in Birmingham Business School. I have substantial experience in School-level education leadership roles including Director of Undergraduate Programmes, Director of Postgraduate Taught Programmes and School Standards and Quality Manager including accreditations (AACSB, EQUIS). I also act as an Expert Assessor for the Office for Students.
