At the end of 2021 I retired voluntarily after 25 years at Edith Cowan University. As a postgraduate co-ordinator and senior lecturer in communication, media and cultural studies, I managed and supervised higher degree students, mentored supervisors and novice researchers and fostered collaborative research. Through editing, reviewing and examining research work at different levels I have developed strong critical skills across the interpretive arts and humanities disciplines. I am an experienced research methodology teacher and consultant, proficient in a range of survey, qualitative and textual methods. I had an earlier career as a plant/soil scientist which continues to exert an influence on my worldview. My peer-reviewed research has been published in journals across the arts and sciences, most recently addressing cultural aspects of environmental movements. I volunteer with several environmental advocacy organisations and my goal now is to put all of my experience to work more directly on the urgent threat of global warming.
