I was born on October 13th, 1972 in Dallas, Texas to Pastor James Mathis and Dorothy Mathis who moved after my birth, to Hope, Arkansas where I was reared and raised. We resided under our Bishop, Otha Hill Sr. who allowed me to preach my first sermon at the tender age of nine. I began preaching at many youth conferences at the age of 13 in the Southwest Region. Around the age of 16, I began holding 3-7 day revivals. At the age of 18, I received my minister's license and at the age of 30, my ordination license was obtained on June 17th, 2003 under the New Testament House of prayer ministry where Otha Hill Sr. Was the Pastor, he also raised me after my father passed. I was 8 years old at the time. I served under Bishop Otha Hill Sr. for over half of my life as a young man.I attended the New Testament Christian Academy which was founded by Otha Hill Sr. At the age of twenty I married my wife on April 26th, 1993; Carmen Santiago Mathis. We have now been married for over 28 years. In our union we were blessed with three beautiful children: David Mathis Jr., Lontonio and Shadasia Mathis. My wife and I served in the nursing home ministry before and throughout our marriage for over fifteen years. Upon approval of Pastor Hill, I served in the New Boston Texas area alongside Pastor Leroy Brown as co-pastor for over two years but while yet serving faithfully under Bishop Hill. We did home bible studies in various cities of Arkansas. In 2004, my family moved to Jonesboro, AR to serve under the leadership of my mother, Pastor Dorothy Williams. I served in music ministry, as an associate pastor and was head auxiliary leader over Evangelistic and Nursing home outreach. I served in our outreach for the homeless and feeding youth in the community. I later became founder and pastor of Birthing New Life Church in the Texarkana, TX area. My brothers and I were signed to EMI Records. We are known as the national recording artists named Image. I serve as a praise and worship leader as well as musician for Mt. Calvary Powerhouse 1 and campus 2 . I was formerly an employee for the Semo Christian Restoration Center. I received my certificate from the Department of Mental Health in May of 2012. I have served as one of the professors there in Poplar Bluff, MO and I am still active. I received my second certificate of ordination and certificate of completion in Ministry & Missionary training Program 1 from the American Missions Teams Organization & the International College of Bible Theology. I earned my doctor of biblical studies on March 18 2017;yet still teaching and learning.
